After a storm: what to check
- The app first. Zero production or a dead string after a storm means a real fault — that is a $199 diagnostic, not a wait-and-see.
- From the ground: lifted or shifted panels, dangling wire, debris on the array, displaced tiles at the array edge.
- Inside: ceiling stains under the array footprint are the emergency version — call the same day.

- The mount that finally let go. Sealant that survived nine monsoons fails in the tenth. The leak shows up on a ceiling, often rooms away from the actual penetration, which is why post-storm ceiling stains near an array always deserve a professional look.
- The wire the wind found. A conductor that dropped out of its clip years ago finally chafes through, and a string goes dark mid-storm. On monitoring you see it instantly; without monitoring, you see it on a bill in October.
- Debris damming. Palm fronds and nest material wedged under the array turn it into a dam during a downpour — water backs up under tiles that would have shed it fine.
- The tripped system nobody restarts. A grid blip trips the system safely offline; the homeowner never notices; it sits dead for weeks. After any outage, check the app the next sunny morning.
Triage rule of thumb: water inside = same-day call; production at zero = this-week diagnostic; cosmetic debris = photo it and add it to the next visit.
