Stop chasing the installer; start with the system

Homeowners in this spot burn months trying to make the old installer answer. The faster path runs the other way: establish what you own and what condition it is in, then attach service to it. Your equipment warranties are manufacturer contracts — panels commonly 25 years, inverters and micros 10–25 — exercised through certified companies regardless of the installer’s fate. Your system’s condition is established by one written inspection. And responsibility is a service relationship you choose, not something you inherit.

Four steps for Erus customers, in order

1. Gather your paperwork. Contract, permits, interconnection approval, serial numbers, warranty registrations, monitoring logins. If Erus never registered your equipment with the manufacturer, the documents you hold are how coverage gets established.
2. Confirm the system is producing. Check the monitoring app against old utility bills. Orphaned systems commonly run degraded for months because nobody is watching.
3. Get the condition on paper. A $299 inspection gives you a licensed contractor’s written record — the document every warranty claim, home sale or dispute starts from. Selling or in a dispute? The $500 tier adds a documented valuation.
4. Give the system a new home for service. A one-off repair or the SolarCare Plan ($500/yr, two full visits) — either way, someone is responsible for it again.
