SunPower System in Arizona? Here Is Where Service Lives Now.

SunPower — for years the premium name in residential solar — filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in August 2024. Its assets and brand were sold, its dealer network scattered, and millions of homeowners were left asking who picks up the phone now. We are SunPower-certified, and for Arizona systems the answer can be: we do.

  • SunPower-certified — we service Equinox systems and Maxeon panels
  • Leased or PPA system? Payments likely moved to a servicer such as SunStrong — we work with them
  • Panel warranties on Maxeon hardware generally survive; the claim path changed
  • $199 diagnostic · $299 written inspection · repairs under our 10-year warranty

What the bankruptcy changed — and what it did not

Residential solar array on an Arizona tile roof
SunPower hardware was genuinely good. The company around it changed; the system on your roof did not.

SunPower’s Chapter 11 in August 2024 did not switch off a single panel. What it broke was the support structure: the dealer who installed your system may be gone or re-badged, the “Complete Confidence” whole-system warranty now depends on entities that emerged from the bankruptcy, and getting a human on the phone became a project. Meanwhile the hardware itself — Maxeon-built panels with some of the longest warranties in the industry, Equinox systems with their integrated microinverters, SunVault storage — keeps working, keeps aging, and keeps needing what every system needs: someone watching it, cleaning it, and fixing it when a component quits.

If your system is leased or on a PPA, the lease almost certainly transferred to a servicing company — SunStrong is the name many Arizona homeowners now see on statements. Keep paying the legitimate servicer; the obligation follows the contract. We work with the major lease servicers routinely, and lease-company authorization for service work is paperwork we handle, not something you have to untangle.

Repairs we make carry our warranty — theirs is gone, ours is not

We are a licensed Arizona electrical contractor (ROC #331356), certified by Tesla, Sunrun, SunPower, SMA, SolarEdge, Enphase and APS. Work we do carries our 10-year workmanship warranty covering every nut, bolt and electrical connection we touch — so your system has a live warranty again, no matter what happened to the company that installed it.

Four steps for SunPower owners, in order

  1. Gather your paperwork. Contract, permits, interconnection approval, serial numbers, warranty registrations, monitoring logins. If your dealer never registered your equipment with the manufacturer, the documents you hold are how coverage gets established.
  2. Confirm the system is producing. Check the monitoring app against old utility bills. Orphaned systems commonly run degraded for months because nobody is watching.
  3. Get the condition on paper. A $299 inspection gives you a licensed contractor’s written record — the document every warranty claim, home sale or dispute starts from. Selling or in a dispute? The $500 tier adds a documented valuation.
  4. Give the system a new home for service. A one-off repair or the SolarCare Plan ($500/yr, two full visits) — either way, someone is responsible for it again.

SunPower-specific realities

Questions we hear from sunpower customers

The panel hardware warranties — largely Maxeon-built — generally survive, and equipment warranties on Equinox components have continuing claim paths through the entities that came out of the bankruptcy. What changed is who processes claims and how long it takes. We are SunPower-certified, verify what your specific system still has, and file through the current channel.
Lease and PPA contracts were sold to servicing companies in the bankruptcy — SunStrong is the servicer many Arizona homeowners now see. Verify the servicer through your statements or the bankruptcy notices, then keep paying them; the contract follows the sale. We coordinate service authorizations with the major servicers routinely.
A SunPower-certified service company — the microinverters and monitoring are proprietary enough that generic handling causes problems. We are certified, we service Equinox and older SunPower systems across Phoenix metro and Tucson, and our work carries our own 10-year workmanship warranty.
Often the reporting died, not the system — but the only way to know is to measure. The $199 diagnostic tests actual production; if you want to stop depending on the app entirely, we install independent Emporia Vue monitoring for $799.
Yes — routinely, including leased systems, where we handle the servicer authorization. Equinox racking and micros go back exactly to spec, the system is re-commissioned and production-verified, and every roof penetration carries our 100% money-back no-leak guarantee.
